The Dikeou Collection presents the eighth installment of the Hope, Thanks & The Unforgiving Literary Series on Thursday, March 26, at 7:00pm, which will take place at Dikeou Pop-Up: Colfax, 312 E Colfax Ave. The featured readers for the evening include Lance Olsen and Mona Awad. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.
Lance Olsen is author of more than 20 books of and about innovative writing, including three published last year: the novel based on Robert Smithson’s earthwork the Spiral Jetty, Theories of Forgetting; How to Unfeel the Dead: New & Selected Fictions; and [[ there. ]], a trash-diary meditation on the confluence of travel, curiosity, and aesthetic/existential experimentation. His short stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in hundreds of journals and anthologies, such as Conjunctions, Black Warrior Review, Fiction International, Village Voice, BOMB, McSweeney’s and Best American Non-Required Reading. A Guggenheim, Berlin Prize, Artist-in-Berlin Residency, N.E.A. Fellowship, and Pushcart Prize recipient, as well as a Fulbright Scholar, he teaches experimental narrative theory and practice at the University of Utah and serves as chair of the Board of Directors at the independent press Fiction Collective Two, currently in its 41st year making fiction making trouble. Mona Awad’s fiction has appeared in McSweeney’s, The Walrus, Joyland, Post Road, St. Petersburg Review, and elsewhere. She received an MFA in fiction from Brown University and is currently a PhD candidate in creative writing at the University of Denver. Her novel in stories, 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl, is forthcoming from Penguin books in spring 2016.
Hope, Thanks & The Unforgiving Literary Series is organized by Hanna Andrews. Hanna is the author of Slope Move (Coconut Books, 2013) and is at work on her 2nd collection of poems. She received her MFA from Columbia College Chicago and is the former Content Editor at the Academy of American Poets where she curated the Poem-a-Day series. She is the co-founder and Editor of the feminist poetry press Switchback Books, and lives in Denver with her husband, the poet Eryn Green, and their baby daughter, Aya.
