The Dikeou Collection continues Summertime at Dikeou Pop-up: Colfax on select Friday evenings until the end of October. Join us Friday, October 3rd to see the work of New York artist Lizzi Bougatsos and catch a DJ set by Dave Ashton from 6-9pm. Ashton is the Program Manager for KGNU Denver 88.5 FM and will be spinning selections from our extensive vinyl archive. This event is free and open to the public.
Intentionally provocative, Lizzi Bougatsos’ work solicits an emotional reaction and quite often that reaction is a smile. Her work is described as having “…a sort of girlish, bitchy glee, and as irreverent and unpredictable. However, Bougatsos’ recent work is shifting to reflect a shift in consciousness she anticipates for culture” (Dalamangas, ZINGCHAT).
Bougatsos has exhibited at James Fuentes, Artpace San Antonio, American Fine Arts, Kenny Schachter Contemporary, and Reena Spauldings. Lizzi is the front woman of Gang Gang Dance, a Brooklyn-based experimental band Lizzi and has performed at the Whitney Museum and MoMA PS1. She is currently recording an album with IUD at MoMA NYC.
