The Dikeou Collection continues the Family Saturday Workshop series on July 9 from 12:00-4:00pm. This workshop will focus on artist Chris Johanson, and will be held at the Dikeou Collection, 1615 California St, Suite 515. Workshops are free to attend, and materials as well as light refreshments will be provided.
Chris Johanson is an artist associated with a group known as The Mission School out of San Francisco, CA, who often use inexpensive, utilitarian, and found/recycled materials to create their art. This workshop focuses on Johanson’s mountain/fortress on view at Dikeou collection. There is an inspirational quote painted on the mountain that references the artist’s interest in mantras and self-help culture.
For this workshop participants will create their own miniature-sized mountains and fortresses out of paper mache and wood, and paint quotes found in a selection of provided literature.
The Dikeou Collection’s Family Saturday Workshops are a great way for people of all ages to learn more about contemporary art and experiment with new creative processes. Workshops include a tutorial and presentation of the artwork highlighted that month.
