Join us at the Dikeou Collection for the fifth installment of our Family Saturday Workshop series on Saturday, August 3 from 12-4pm. This month’s workshop will focus on the artist collective known as The Royal Art Lodge. The Dikeou Collection is home to large group of collaborative drawings done by members of the Royal Art Lodge, and they have also had their creative projects featured in four issues of zingmagazine.The Royal Art Lodge was a collaborative group of artists from Winnipeg, Canada who worked together from 1996 to 2008. Generally, at least three of the members contribute to each piece of work in a spontaneous response to the previous artist’s work on the page, a technique originally developed by the Surrealists called “exquisite corpse.”
Visitors participating in the workshop will be supplied with materials to create their own “exquisite corpse” drawings and collages with family and friends. This workshop is free to attend and no RSVP is required. Music and snacks will also be provided to keep the collaborative spirit lively.
