DIKEOU LITERARY SERIES: BURNS NIGHT EDITION
01/25/2018
The Dikeou Collection presents the twenty-sixth installment of the Dikeou Literary Series with a special celebration of Robert Burns on Thursday, January 25 from 7-9pm. This event will take place at Dikeou Collection, 1615 California St, suite 515 and is free and open to the public.
An 18th century Scottish poet and lyricist, Robert Burns is the best known poet to have written in the Scottish dialect and is responsible for collecting and publishing many Scottish folk songs. The son of a tenant farmer, many of his poems are written from the perspective of peasants and revolve around themes of social justice. Festivities will include a traditional Burns Supper, recitations, and a sing-along with musical accompaniment by Denver-based poet and songwriter Brian Laidlaw. Bring a Scottish dish to share, a Burns poem to read, an instrument, or just yourself! Contact Dikeou Literary Series host Ashley Colley with any questions at colleyad@gmail.com.
