FAMILY SATURDAY WORKSHOP: MARGARET LEE MONUMENT CONSTRUCTION

04/09/2016

The Dikeou Collection continues the Family Saturday Workshop series on April 9 from 12:00 to 4:00pm. This workshop will focus on artist Margaret Lee’s Think About Tomorrow or Don’t installation as featured at the Dikeou Collection, and will be held at the Dikeou Collection, 1615 California St, Suite 515. Workshops are free to attend, and materials as well as light refreshments will be provided.

Margaret Lee’s installation Think About Tomorrow or Don’t is a scaled-down, wood monument inspired by the Wright Brothers monument from Kitty Hawk, North Carolina commemorating the first sustained flight of Oliver and Wilbur Wright in 1903.

Participants are invited to create a wood replica of their favorite monument, or invent one of their own using small pieces of wood, glue, and paint, and also think about who or what the monument is for and what it means to them. This workshop will take about 1.5 hours to complete.

The Dikeou Collection’s Family Saturday Workshops are a great way for people of all ages to learn more about contemporary art and experiment with new creative processes. Workshops include a tutorial and presentation of the artwork highlighted that month.
