'FRESH JAZZ & CRISP VINYL SERIES' WITH TREVOR ANDERIES GROUP

03/31/2014

The Dikeou Collection’s fifth installment of the ‘Fresh Jazz and Crisp Vinyl Series’ will feature a very special performance by the Trevor Anderies Group on Monday, March 31, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. A special guest will be DJ’n rare & classic records from the Collection’s extensive Vinyl Archive. Anderies and his band will play at 8:00 pm. This event will take place at the Dikeou Collection, 1615 California St., fifth floor, and is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided.

For this performance the Trevor Anderies Group will feature Danny Meyer on tenor saxophone, Jean Lou Treboux on vibraphone, Jean Luc Davis on bass, and Anderies on drums. The band will highlight the music composed by Anderies from his debut album Shades of Truth (2013), which purposefully blurs the lines of genre taking influence from avant-garde jazz, hard-bop, classical, soul, and the blues, creating an exciting sound all its own. Notable jazz legend Bennie Maupin calls Shades of Truth a “welcome breeze of fresh air” and says, “It’s young musicians like Trevor and his brilliant ensemble, who are bringing forth the highly creative, exciting and innovative improvisations of the 21st. century.” Trevor Anderies is originally from Denver, and his father, Joe Anderies, is also a prominent local jazz musician who plays saxophone and flute. Trevor currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

The ‘Fresh Jazz and Crisp Vinyl Series’ focuses on jazz musicians living and working today, whose names are not yet embossed into history, but whose energy, wisdom, well worn instruments, and presence in the jazz scene are further defining our admiration for this life form called Jazz music. Selections from the vinyl archive will thus serve as a remembrance to all the jazz greats who came before the jazz musicians invited to play at this bi-monthly series.
